This beautiful English-style basement/garden-level apartment is in a prime location of Capitol Hill and can accommodate up to 6 people. Located at 6th Street & A Street SE in the Eastern Market neighborhood, it makes for the perfect vacation rental in Washington D.C.
Featuring a Queen-sized Murphy bed in the spacious living area, the privacy screen separates the front of the room, which offers a Queen-sized sleeper sofa. The bedroom in the rear of the apartment contains two twin beds and a full bathroom. The front room also features a full bathroom and galley-style kitchen, fully equipped with all appliances. The kitchen is great for budget-minded travelers who would like to cook light meals or prefer not to dine out for three meals a day. Conveniently, there are several shopping options within a 10-minute walk from this house. Additionally, this home has laundry facilities, making it convenient for those longer-term stays. Guests can also relax on the private lower terrace which is equipped with a small table and chairs.
Guests enjoy easy access to all that the D.C. has to offer, including but not limited to the National Mall, U.S. Capitol Building, Library of Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court. If you wish to walk and take in the sites of D.C., the National Mall is approximately 15-20 minutes away. Additionally, the apartment is located within a 7-8 minute walk to the Blue/Orange Line Metro at the Eastern Market stop and the famed Eastern Market itself! You can hop on the Eastern Market Metro which will take you many places, including the White House, Convention Center, the National Zoo and Arlington National Cemetery, just to name a few! Guests also have the option of catching a ride on the Metro bus, Uber, Zip Car or Car2go. If you are looking to bike around the city, there are several Capital Bikesharestations available nearby!
Check in time is after 4:00 p.m. and check out is 11:00 a.m. promptly. In many cases, you may be able to arrange an earlier time for luggage drop off.
Should guests require parking, the owners can obtain an on-street parking permit for 1 car at no additional cost.
Rates are seasonal with Spring and Fall being peak seasons for our area. A three-night minimum reservation is required at all times. Rates do not include a $100 cleaning fee, the 14.5% DC lodging taxes or the $10 reservation fee. All of our homes are smoke free. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate guest pets.

Great location, walkable to Capitol Hill, Eastern Market metro, even Smithsonian museums. Better than photo with bright natural lights. Spacious and clean. Has a few owners stuff in storage around but dies not hamper the stay. Would def stay here again.
3 of us stayed in this basement apartment for a weekend trip to DC and had a wonderful experience!! The location is ideal, walking distance to the capitol, eastern market and a ton of restaurants and coffee shops. The neighborhood is very nice & walk-able and made me want to move there. The hosts live upstairs and were extremely responsive and accommodating and made everything worry free for us.Regarding the actual living quarters, there is one larger room containing the kitchen/living room/ queen bed/ bathroom. Then there is the back room with two twin beds and another bathroom. This place is perfect for 3 or 4 people but would be tight with 6 as you would have to use the pull out sofa in the main front room. The place was extremely clean and had a lot of character. I loved the decor. You even have access to the back patio. No complaints overall and a great spot for a weekend getaway! We would definitely come back!

This apartment is well maintained and in a wonderful location.
This was our third stay at the Eastern Market apartment and it never disappoints! Carla and Gordon are wonderful hosts and the apartment is the perfect place to stay in DC. The location is amazing - wonderful neighbourhood, steps from restaurants, the market and the subway stop. Quiet, immaculate apartment with an extremely well-equipped kitchen. The back room is perfect for the kids - their own little oasis to chill out at the end of day exploring the city. Will stay here any time we come to visit DC!!
The apartment is really lovely and has plenty of space for a family. We stayed there for a long weekend with our three children (ages 4-9). There are two separate bathrooms as well as a small, but perfectly functional, kitchen. The owners met us when we arrived to give us the keys and point out how a few things work. They provide a visitors parking pass and we were able to find parking on the same block any time we used the car. (I noticed that some AirBnBs in the area do not provide a parking space or a permit, so this is a big plus.) The neighborhood is beautiful and we enjoyed walking to get coffee in the morning. There is a Metro stop a few blocks away, but we also used Uber, because the cost seemed to be similar to paying for four people to use the Metro (our youngest did not need a Metro ticket because he is under 5). I would consider staying here again.
We (family of 4) had a wonderful stay at the Eastern Market Apartment. We met our host on the first day and she provided everything we needed and even suggested a great restaurant for dinner on our first night. We were looking for something family friendly and relaxed. Mr. Henry's was just what we needed. The apartment is decorated nicely and in a family friendly neighborhood. It is close to restaurants, shopping and of course the market. We didn't need a car while vacationing in D.C. We walked to the Metro to get around. If we go back to DC, we would stay here again!
We stayed in this apartment for 7 nights with our two children. The owners were very helpful and available if needed. The apartment was very clean and was perfect for a family of four. We had plenty of space and two full baths made the week pleasant with two teenagers.
