Getting to Your Washington D.C. Vacation Rental

The exact address of your vacation rental or furnished apartment will be provided with your booking confirmation. Vacation Rentals DC is a BedandBreakfastDC.com company. BBDC will provide you with your confirmation, directions (driving and Metro), and instructions for accessing the property upon arrival. Please be sure to take your confirmation and access instructions with you as we do not publish their exact address, it is only provided with a confirmed reservation.

If you are traveling to Washington D.C. by car, we will provide you with driving directions that will take you from the major highways outside the city to the front door of the property.  Parking instructions will also be provided.

If you are arriving to Washington via an airport, train or bus station, there are generally at least two options for public transportation to our vacation rental homes in Washington D.C. Below are some directions to get from the three airports that service Washington D.C., as well as Union Station - Washington's train and bus station.

Transportation from the Airports:

Taxi service is available from every airport. There are additional options specific to each airport detailed as follows.

Reagan National (DCA):

  • Taxi service to most of the Vacation Rentals in our system is about $25 for a party of 2
  • Metrorail service is available using the blue and yellow lines, connecting to all other lines in the city.
  • Supershuttle, a van service with door-to-door service, is about $14 per person and $10 for each additional person.

Baltimore Washington International (BWI):

  • Taxi service fares are about $85 for a party of 2
  • Metrobus provides shuttle service from the airport to the Greenbelt station of the Metrorail. The bus fare is about $6 per person.
  • Supershuttle fares are about $37 for the first person and $12 for each additional person up to 7
  • MARC train commuter rail, operating Monday to Friday about 1 every hour. Fares are roughly $7
  • Amtrak trains, fares $13-26 one way.

Note: BWI is approximately 35 geographic miles from downtown DC. Expect travel times to range from 1 hour to as much as 2 hours.

Dulles International (IAD):

  • Taxi service fares are about $85 for a party of 2
  • The Washington Flyer provides shuttle bus service to the Wiehle-Reston East station of the Metrorail. The bus fare is $5.00 each way.
  • Supershuttle fares are about $29 for the first person and $10 for each additional person up to 7.
  • Metrobus provides service from Dulles to L'Enfant Plaza. This is the 5A, for about a $3 fare.

Note: Dulles is approximately 35 geographic miles from downtown DC. Expect travel times to range from 1 hour to as much as 2 hours.

Transportation from Union Station:

  • Taxi service from Union Station to almost every Vacation Rental  in our system is fast and efficient. Fares in Washington are now based time and mileage. Most homes in the Capitol Hill, Logan Circle, Dupont Circle and Convention Center/Shaw neighborhoods can be reached by taxi  for fares in the $8-12 range. Traveling to Upper Northwest would likely be more in the range of $12-15.
  • Washington's Metrorail, subway provides access at Union Station with the Red line. Many of the Vacation Rentals located on Capitol Hill are within walking distance of Union Station.

Transportation from Washington's Bus station:

  • Taxi service to almost every Vacation Rental in our system is fast and efficient. Fares in Washington are based on time and mileage. Most of the properties are located within a $10-12 fare for 2 persons.
  • Metrorail access is a short walk from the Bus station to Union Station for the Red line.

Other points of note:

  • If your flights are arriving 9:00 p.m. or later, we strongly recommend that you take taxi service from BWI or Dulles in order to reach the property at a reasonable hour.  Service by SuperShuttle, Bus and Metro becomes much less consistent later in the evening.
  • Please be courteous to your hosts.  If you are arriving at a property where a host is greeting you and your arrival has been delayed with later landings or arrivals, please contact your hosts to make them aware.
  • If you choose to arrive by car to your selected vacation rental, please be sure to ask us for driving directions, and inquire about parking options.
